3.2 Managing Digital Tools and Resources
Candidates effectively manage digital tools and resources within the context of student learning experiences. (PSC 3.2/ISTE 3b)
Artifact:
The artifacts is my Multimedia Design Project, which is entitled Georgia Habitats. I have also attached my Multimedia Design Project Report.
Reflection:
This artifact is my Multimedia Design Project created in ITEC 7445. This project was a WebQuest that used digital tools and resources to deepen student learning. The WebQuest covered third grade standards related to Georgia Habitats.
The Multimedia Design Project gave me the opportunity to effectively manage digital tools and resources to promote and enhance student learning. Students used a mix of iPad applications, web 2.0 tools, and websites to complete the Georgia Habitats WebQuest. I carefully selected each digital tool and resource that students used while completing this WebQuest. I was able to manage the use of the digital tools and resources while facilitating while the project was going on. This was done by observing while students were working, checking the tracking on the applications, web 2.0 tools, and websites. I also checked the history on the iPads as needed to ensure students were on task and completing their work in a timely manner.
I am really proud of how my project turned out. Students will use multiple digital tools to complete the WebQuest in the Multimedia Design Project. They will have a learning experience that many have not experienced before. They will delve into Georgia Habits and learn about all of the five habitats. They will concentrate on one habitat and create an advertisement about the habitat. If I had this project to do over again I would have began building the project in Weebly sooner. This would have allowed me to implement it sooner and given students more preparation prior to the Georgia Milestones Assessment for that school year.
This artifact directly impacted student learning. The impact of this project can be assessed by comparing the cohort of student test scores on the Social Studies Georgia Milestones prior to implementation to the scores of a cohort after implementation. Third grade teachers at Westside plan to use this WebQuest for many years to come.
