Artifact:
One Hour Technology Workshop
Reflection:
This artifact is my one-hour technology workshop that was conducted at my school, Westside Elementary School. This gave me the opportunity to deliver professional development to my colleagues within my school.
The one-hour technology workshop was developed and implemented Westside Elementary School. Since the school has a 1:1 iPad program, we focused on the available features for the iPad. I aligned the professional learning to state and national professional learning standards when creating this workshop. I also integrated technology to support face-to-face and online components during the workshop. The online component of my workshop can be viewed at www.PDisonthemove.weebly.com. I promoted best practices in teaching, learning, and assessing when it comes to helping all students have access to technology and learning regardless of their disability.
I truly enjoyed delivering the one hour technology workshop. This is something that technology coaches do on a weekly basis. I had the opportunity to teach some of my colleagues about all of the accessibility features that are available for them to use with their students on the iPad. One of the greatest things is that they come standard on every iPad. Everything they need is at their fingertips when it comes to accessibility on the iPad. I look forward to getting to lead many more workshops and professional development opportunities. If I had this to do over again, I would have wanted to give the participants more time to learn to use the accessibility features on the iPad. I only got to briefly overview the features and then before I knew it the hour was gone. I would like to be a little more structured in my delivery.
This artifact impacted professional development and student learning. The impact of this artifact can be assessed by the amount of students using accessibility features with their students with disabilities in order to meet their needs. The teachers who participated in this workshop really got ahold of the idea of using the accessibility features and have allowed that to transform student learning.
