Diversity
While at KSU completing the Instructional Technology and Curriculum program, I have had many opportunities to work with students who are from diverse populations. The program has stretched, molded, and changed the way I think about diversity. There is a vast array of differences that make up diverse student populations including but not limited to ethnicity, race, gender, socio-economic status, and special needs. While working with students from diverse populations, I have gained valuable knowledge, skills and dispositions that have equipped me to use technology to promote the needs of all students.
My current school has many students with diverse backgrounds. Prior to beginning my program at Kennesaw State University, I did not think much about the diversity that is represented within the school. Each school is made up of unique sets of diverse populations and each comes with its own unique challenges. Much of my experience with diversity deals with socio-economic status, race, and students with disabilities. The skills and knowledge gained at KSU have allowed me to support diverse populations through the use of technology. Technology has given me the opportunity to change how students with diverse needs and backgrounds learn. It has given me the opportunity to open a door of success that many students had felt was locked. Digital tools and resources have transformed education for the diverse learners within my school.
