Artifact:
SIP/Tech Plan Analysis
Reflection:The SIP/Tech plan analysis was developed to discover what ways the SIP could be improved to better incorporate technology. I developed this plan by myself while reviewing the current SIP in order to determine what needs may not be addressed by the plan.
The SIP/ Tech Plan Analysis gave me the insight and knowledge I would need to complete the rest of the coursework for ITEC 7410. It laid the foundational knowledge about my school and district. It was designed and developed by analyzing the school SIP and the district technology plan. It was very interesting to read the SIP. I was very surprised at how little technology was involved in the SIP. The reality at my school involves technology on a daily basis. The SIP simply did not represent the reality. The school does not currently have a Tech Plan. The district plan involves a little more technology but not much. The entire district is a 1:1 iPad district. The technology is readily available and used by many. The lack of technology represented on the SIP and District plans gave me the opportunity to voice how important the design, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of technology-infused strategic plans are. My voice was not only heard but, well received. The SIP/Tech plan analysis was reviewed by current administrators and the suggestions it help have been/are currently being implemented into the updated SIP. I communicated the SIP/Tech Plan analysis to my current administrators by sharing with them what I had created. The artifact was evaluated by my professor in ITEC 7410 and it was given high scores in all aspects of the rubric.
The analysis of these plans allowed me to get a clearer picture of things that need to be changed. I learned how what is happening in reality may not be reflective on paper. If given the opportunity to do something differently regarding this artifact, I would have went to further lengths to be sure that I had all of the information before completing this assignment. Shortly after completion, it was brought to my attention that my school district was in development of a tech plan.
The SIP/ Tech plan analysis directly impacts school improvement. The impact of the SIP/ Tech plan analysis can be assessed through future SIPs. This project brought attention to the misrepresentation of technology in the SIP at Westside Elementary School. Future SIPs will be informed by the SIP/ Tech plan analysis that I completed.
